Discussions aimed at creating a free trade zone between Egypt and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are in their final stages, Russian Trade Representative to Egypt Alexei Tevanyan said.
“The conclusion of a free trade agreement between Egypt and the EAEU will simplify the access of our goods to the Egyptian market. Negotiations on the free trade zone are at the final stage,” he said.
Earlier, the same agreement was concluded with Iran.
Since January 1, 2015, the EAEU has operated as an international organization that facilitates economic integration among the five member countries of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
In 2020, at the meeting of the EAEU leaders, it was also decided to grant observer status to Cuba and Uzbekistan.
