China has launched the world’s fastest internet with a data transfer rate of 1.2 terabits (1,200 gigabits) per second, the SCMP reported.
This speed is a new record, equal to the transfer of 150 HD movies in one second.
The cable, more than 3,000 kilometers long, connected Beijing, Wuhan and Guangzhou.
As noted, this data transmission speed is up to 10 times higher than the nearest similar projects in the United States.
In addition, the software and equipment for the operation of the cable was entirely manufactured in China.
The project was implemented by Tsinghua University, telecom operator China Mobile, as well as Huawei Technologies and Cernet Corporation.
