“Negotiations lasted throughout the day. As a result, they came to agreements on the inadmissibility of unleashing a bloodbath on the territory of Russia. Yevgeny Prigozhin accepted President Alexander Lukashenko’s proposal to stop the movement of the armed men of the Wagner company on Russian territory and further steps to de-escalate tensions,” the press service of the President of the Republic of Belarus said.
“Now the moment has come when blood can be shed <…> Russian blood. Therefore, we turn our columns around and go back to the field camps according to the plan,” Prigozhin said.
Earlier today, a counter-terrorist operation regime was declared in Moscow, Moscow Oblast and Voronezh Oblast amidst Prigozhin’s mutiny. Additionaly, authorities in the Lipetsk Oblast and Rostov Oblast urged residents not to leave their homes.
All these regions suspended mass events in the open air. Monday was also announced a day off in Moscow.
The Wagner Group has reportedly destroyed six military helicopters and one jet aircraft today alone.
The fate of PMC Wagner is still unknown, yet a criminal case was opened against Prigozhin this morning for organizing an armed insurgency, for which he could face from 12 to 20 years in prison.
