Paolo Ardoino, Chief Technology Officer of Tether (USDT stablcoin issuer) said in a Twitter thread that the company tracks all customers for sanctions violations.

He added that customer transfers are monitored by the Chainalysis analytics service for links to potentially high-risk wallets.

The claim came amid criticism of Tether by former SEC attorney John Reed Stark, who questioned the company’s trustworthiness.

The CTO said that Tether has cooperated with law enforcement agencies around the world in more than 200 cases, already recovering more than $100 million from hacked individuals, exchanges, and networks

According to Dune Analytics, Tether has so far blocked nearly $460 million in USDT and banned 877 addresses.
